Deep Linking and Using Specific Resources Effectively
Overview
The implementation of OpenAthens has introduced changes to how certain resources are used. Below are sections detailing what you need to know to make the most of these resources.
Google Scholar
Set up Google Scholar to show you Find it links from Tufts. This will allow you to find the full-text of articles and other items directly from Tufts. Do the following:
- Go to Google Scholar
- Click on the three dashes on the upper left-hand side to see the menu. Click Settings.
- In the menu, click Library links and in the search box, enter Tufts University and click Search.
- Select Tufts University – Get This Item at Tufts by clicking the checkbox on the left.
- Click the Save button at the bottom.
You should now see 'Get this Item at Tufts' links on the right-hand side. If we license the full-text, you'll be taken directly to the item to log in. If we don't have full-text, you'll be brought to JumboSearch where you'll have the option to request the item through ILLiad, our interlibrary loan system.
O'Reilly Books Online - Linking to specific book chapters
You may want to create a link to specific book chapters within a title. Do the following:
- Copy this URL to a text editor or browser window: https://go.oreilly.com/tufts-university/
- Go to O'Reilley Books Online (note: you may need to log in) and find the book and then book chapter that you're looking for. Copy the URL that's in the browser window.
- Append the URL that you just copied to: https://go.oreilly.com/tufts-university/
- You should end up with a final URL that looks something like this:
https://go.oreilly.com/tufts-university/https://learning.oreilly.com/library/view/typescript-cookbook/9781098136642/ch05.html
Use that URL to link directly to your chapter
