Affiliates, Tufts Medical Center Staff, Authorized Visitors, Alumni and Guest Access Information
Affiliates, Tufts Medical Center staff and Authorized Visitors
If you're an Affiliate, a member of the Tufts Medical Center Staff, or an Authorized Visitor, you have access to Tufts Libraries electronic resources. Here's how to get started:
For Current Registered Users
If you're already registered, you likely have a Library Access Number (LAN). You can continue using this LAN to log into resources that require EZproxy.
Starting January 6, you’ll also receive new Tufts Libraries login credentials for OpenAthens. Your login credentials will consist of your Tufts Libraries-registered email address and a password of your choosing. Watch for an email prompting you to set your password on January 6.
For First-Time Registrants
If you're registering for the first time, contact your home library. Once you're verified, your Tufts Library account will be set up. You'll use your registered email address and a password you set to log into OpenAthens. You'll receive a password reset email to set up password. During registration, you'll also be given a Library Access Number (LAN) for use with EZproxy. Over time, as we move away from EZproxy, you won’t need your LAN anymore.
Need Help?
If you're having trouble setting your password, logging in to OpenAthens, or using your LAN with EZproxy, don’t worry! You can get help by contacting your home library or by using our General Contact form. For step-by-step instructions and common troubleshooting tips, visit the Logging into Library Resources page in this guide.
Tufts University Alumni
If you're a Tufts alumnus, you have access to approximately 21 of the Tufts Libraries electronic resources. You can find the full list of these resources on your home library's website.
Please note, if you try to access library resources that are not available to alumni, you’ll see a message that says, "Access to this resource has been restricted by your organization."
Here's how to get started:
-
If you've accessed the Alumni Directory to use library resources since September 1, 2023
You'll automatically be transitioned to a Tufts Libraries Login account. You should receive an email from Advancement with details about this change. On January 15, you'll get another email with your registered email address and instructions to set a new password for logging into library resources via OpenAthens.
-
If you're registering for the first time or last accessed the Alumni Directory before September 1, 2023
Complete the Alumni Registration Form on your home library's website. Once your eligibility is confirmed, we’ll create your Tufts Library account and send you an email to set your password.
If you're having trouble setting your password or logging in to OpenAthens, you can get help by contacting your home library or using our gemera; help form. For step-by-step instructions and common troubleshooting tips, visit the Logging into Library Resources page.
On-Campus Guests
If you're a guest on the Tufts campus, you can access library resources using the Tufts Guest login in OpenAthens. Here’s what you need to know:
- Look for the Tufts Guest username and password near library computers, or ask at the library's information desk for assistance.
- If you’re using your own computer, make sure you connect to the Tufts Guest wireless network to use the Tufts Guest login.
Library staff are happy to help if you have any questions or need assistance.
